SAULT STE. MARIE - OPEN
FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER
Step One: Review recruitment guide to ensure you meet the qualifications and understand the process.
Step Two: Submit your application package online to SSM by 4:30PM EST on Thursday, December 18, 2025. See page 6 of the recruitment guide for instructions.
Step Three: Once you are notified by SSM after submitting your application package, book your appointment with Firefighter Services of Ontario. Deadline to book your appointment is 4PM EST on Friday, January 9, 2026. Book all tests in one appointment. Do not book multiple timeslots as this takes away opportunities for other candidates. You will receive a confirmation email with details of your appointment once your payment is processed. Testing must be completed by February 1, 2026. Appointments are first come, first serve.
Step Four: Complete the Human Relations (HR) and Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (ESR) by Friday, January 16, 2026. Check the action items in your confirmation email for details.
Already completed FSO Testing?
Candidates who successfully completed the core four tests in one day (Clinical, CPAT, Tread Water and Aptitude) on or after February 1, 2025, you would be required to complete:
- Clinical Assessment (if expired, valid for 6 months)
- Medical, Acrophobia, Human Relations, and/or Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (if expired, valid for 1 year)

WINDSOR - CLOSED 
FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER
Step One: Review posting to ensure you meet the qualifications and understand the process.
Step Two: Apply online via the City of Windsor website by 11:59PM EST on October 29, 2025.
Step Three: Book your apppointment with Firefighter Services of Ontario. Deadline to book your appointment is 11:59PM EST on October 29, 2025. Book all tests in one appointment. Do not book multiple timeslots as this takes away opportunities for other candidates. You will receive a confirmation email with details of your appointment once your payment is processed. Testing must be completed by November 16, 2025. Appointments are first come, first serve.
Step Four: Complete the Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (ESR) by 4PM EST on November 3, 2025. Check your confirmation email for details.
Already completed FSO Testing?
Candidates who successfully completed the core four tests in one day (Clinical, CPAT, Tread Water and Aptitude) on or after November 16, 2024, you would be required to complete:
- Clinical Assessment (if expired, valid for 6 months)
- Medical, Acrophobia, and/or Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (if expired, valid for 1 year)
ST. CATHARINES - CLOSED
FULL-TIME FIREFIGHTER
Step One: Ensure you meet the qualifications and understand the process.
Step Two: Book your appointment with Firefighter Services of Ontario. Deadline to book your appointment is 11:59PM EST on August 22, 2025. Book all tests in one day. You will receive a confirmation email with details of your appointment once your payment is processed. Testing must be completed by October 5, 2025. Appointments are first come, first serve. A waiting list will be maintained if all timeslots fill up. Email info@fireontario.com to be placed on the waiting list.
Step Three: Complete the Emotional Stability and Resiliency Assessment (ESR) by 4PM EST on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Step Four: Bring the documents listed on the application check list to your FSO appointment. The package will be collected upon successful completion of the required tests. Deadline to submit application packages is 11:59PM EST on October 5, 2025. Application packages are to be submitted in-person (on any of the test dates) or by mail. Emailed application packages will not be accepted.
Step Five: For those who successfully complete all tests at FSO, candidates are required to apply online using the City of St. Catharines Online Career Application System. Online applications will be accepted from September 22, 2025, to October 13, 2025.
